This day is a very dear feast for us as St Catherine is one of the patrons of our Congregation. Also, some of our Sisters received the habit or made profession on this day.
This year we had an early Mass in our chapel and then a Sung Mass in the Church. At the Sung Mass Sister Marie Therese,O.P. renewed her vows for a further two years, as required by the Constitutions. The Mass was sung by boys of the school and schola members and the girls sang the Kyriale in alternation with the boys’ voices as well as the “Hymn to St Catherine” and “Hail St Dominic”.
After Mass we went for a picnic at Kai Iwi Beach with fish and chips. Father Fortin’s sister Mary Rose is visiting him at the moment so we were able to take her on a real kiwi experience.
I love reading about your church and school, how I wish I could be part of such a truly Catholic Community but I live too far away.
But you are an inspiration to us strugglers! I pray continuously that your traditional devotion to Our Lord, our Blessed Mother and the Saints will spread throughout New Zealand
